Position Summary:

As a SCADA Engineer at Applied Digital, you will be instrumental in maintaining, optimizing, and troubleshooting advanced control systems within our datacenters. Your primary focus will be on post‑commissioning activities, ensuring that our control systems operate efficiently and reliably to support our high‑performance compute applications. Working closely with operations and maintenance teams, you will play a vital role in sustaining optimal datacenter performance and addressing any technical challenges that arise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Post‑Commissioning Maintenance:
    Oversee the ongoing maintenance and optimization of control systems post‑commissioning, ensuring they meet operational requirements.
  • System Monitoring:
    Continuously monitor control systems to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and energy efficiency, addressing any deviations or issues promptly.
  • Troubleshooting and Repairs:
    Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to control systems, including chiller plants, power distribution, and environmental monitoring systems.
  • Automation Optimization:
    Implement and refine automation strategies to enhance system efficiency, reduce energy consumption, and improve overall performance.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    Maintain detailed records of system performance, maintenance activities, and troubleshooting efforts. Generate reports for management and stakeholders.
  • Technical Support:
    Provide expert technical support to operations and maintenance teams, guiding them in resolving complex SCADA system issues. Bi‑weekly on‑call rotation with less than 15% travel required.
  • Upgrades and Enhancements:
    Identify opportunities for system upgrades and enhancements, working with vendors and contractors to implement improvements.
  • Compliance and Standards:
    Ensure all control systems comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
  • Training and Development:
    Mentor and train junior engineers and staff on control system operations and maintenance.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in maintaining and troubleshooting control systems, preferably in a datacenter or energy management/generation environment.
  • Proficiency in programming languages and protocols commonly used in control systems (e.g., BACnet, Modbus).
  • 2 or more years’ experience with Inductive Automation’s Ignition Product
  • Strong understanding of chiller plants, power distribution, and environmental monitoring systems.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and protocols for control systems and automation (e.g., ASHRAE, ANSI/ASHRAE Standards, etc.).
  • Experience with energy management and sustainability initiatives is a plus.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders.
