Basic FunctionHF Sinclair is seeking an Analytical Engineer‑Optimization in Dallas, TX who will be responsible for leading the development, deployment, and sustainment of advanced technologies and predictive modeling frameworks aimed at optimizing refinery asset performance. This includes leveraging machine learning, inferential modeling, and real‑time analytics to identify and implement improvements.
Job Duties- Review refinery optimization opportunities with an operating area and/or site for potential Deep Learning Process Control (DLPC) applications.
- Determine the potential value of optimization opportunities through operational and economic data analysis.
- Configure and deploy DLPC applications on existing network for identified optimization opportunities.
- Configure and deploy online inferential models for technical and operational staff to utilize for optimization.
- Maintain/retrain as needed existing DLPC and online inferential models within fleet.
- Monitor DLPC and online inferential models for overall performance and document recommended actions for improvement.
- Review the value generated by DLPC and online inferential models with operating teams.
- Collaborate with technology partners to utilize their technology to capture beyond DLPC and inferential opportunities.
- Collaborate with our Planning and Economics Departments to identify further optimization opportunities.
- 3+ years experience in a technical role within a refinery with ability to understand oil flows and process unit technology.
- 2+ years experience in Process Control or 2+ years experience in economics and planning.
- Experience in deploying new technology in IT/OT networks.
- Knowledge around multiple refinery process unit technologies.
- Experience in delivering modern/digital solutions that include AI/ML software.
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or other related fields, or equivalent work experience in lieu of a four‑year degree is required.

Preferred Skills- Analytical Tools (Seeq, PI Asset Framework).
- Python coding.
Dallas‑based with up to 25% travel by land or air. Subject to all weather and varying road conditions. Occasional long hours, as well as nights and weekends, as needed.
