Title: PCB Hardware Engineer
Job type: FTE/Contract
Job SummaryThe role of Hardware Engineer will focus on the design and development of logic and control circuits for embedded circuit boards. Responsibilities include schematic capture, PCB layout collaboration with third‑party vendors, prototyping, testing, and debugging to deliver reliable and innovative electronic products. The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for developing new designs, processes, or design modifications to meet design requirements and ensuring that the final design complies with all specified requirements.
The candidate must be able to take initiative and work with minimal supervision, yet be comfortable collaborating across multidisciplinary teams. This role will also involve clearly communicating technical matters to internal stakeholders.
- Design and develop analog and digital circuit schematics using Mentor PADS schematic design tools
- Select electronic components based on electrical requirements, cost, and availability
- Generate and maintain technical documentation, including BOMs, schematics, test reports, and revision history
- Collaborate with third‑party PCB layout engineers ensuring signal integrity, thermal performance, and manufacturability
- Develop test procedures and validate electrical performance through simulation, prototyping, and hands‑on lab testing
- Work closely with firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless product integration
- Support board bring‑up, debugging, and design validation throughout the product development lifecycle
- Produce reports on project progress and other details for managerial staff
- Interface with vendors, contract manufacturers, and suppliers to support PCB fabrication and assembly
- Test new systems and make design changes if needed
- Troubleshoot and resolve circuit‑level and system‑level issues
- Travel up to 10%
Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in Mentor PADS schematic design tools and SAP
- Solid understanding of electronic components, circuit theory, signal processing, and power systems
- Hands‑on experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, and other lab equipment
- Familiarity with high‑speed digital design, power management, or mixed‑signal circuits is a plus
- Strong knowledge of North American standards: NFPA, NEC, UL/cUL, CSA, as well as International and European standards: IEC/CE
- Eagerness and willingness to learn new technologies
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment
- Experience working in multi‑functional team
- BS degree in Electrical Engineering or similar
