Catalyst is headquartered in Dallas, TX. The position is in Dallas or full-remote if appropriate.
The PositionCatalyst is seeking an experienced solar development associate to play a key role in our growing renewable energy development team within the PJM, MISO, and ERCOT regions of the United States. This position will manage a critical role in the development process by effectively managing all aspects of Catalyst’s early, mid, and late stage solar and battery storage development needs. Primary responsibilities will include assessing site suitability at target locations, including identification of potential fatal flaws and development risks.
The role will require travel to secure land lease agreements with landowners and to engage local stakeholders as needed.
- Secure site control for development projects, including landowner outreach and the negotiation of land lease agreements and easements/ROWs
- Create and maintain financial development budgets (early stage to NTP) for all projects within assigned region
- Lead the state, local, and federal permitting procurement process as required
- Oversee site diligence process and preparation of early designs, coordinating with vendors to study constraints, survey the site, and apply for and receive regulatory approvals
- Secure all required discretionary and administrative permits during the development period
- Execute real estate and title diligence processes including negotiation of crossing agreements to ensure that title insurance can be secured prior to financial closing
- Represent Catalyst Energy Partners with key stakeholders including state and local government officials, RTO/ISO operators, landowners, and other important community members
- 2-7 years of solar/battery storage development experience at a reputable renewable energy developer or independent power producer
- PJM and ERCOT development experience required
- Permitting experience required
- Strong grasp of real estate contract terms and conditions and ability to quickly extract key provisions from land agreements and legal documents
- Strong organizational and public speaking skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage project timelines and achieve key development milestones
- Strong organizational, project management and problem-solving skills and the ability to structure work to meet project schedules and deadlines
