Job Description

I. OVERVIEW:

Under the direction of the Director of Operations, the Jumbo Underwriting Manager oversees all of the Jumbo and Non-QM Underwriting functions at Supreme Lending.

II. EXPECTATIONS:
• Ensures that underwriting turn times and decisions are sound and within the scope of good business practices and company policies.  
• Manages team pipeline.  
• Orders One Time Credit Waiver documentation as needed.  
• Evaluates and examines transactions to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with investor and company guidelines.  
• Prepares and communicates formal reports for team members and management.  
• Ensures documents are consistent and uphold to company and industry guidelines.  
• Identifies red flags on documentation.  
• Assists with renegotiations of loans based on lending guidelines.  
• Performs timely compliance reviews.  
• Reviews and reconciles Deficiency Review(s) from investors.  
• Provides direction to underwriting team regarding underwriting and program conditions.  
• Keeps current on new product offerings and educates staff when applicable.  
• Answers questions and gives advice to team regarding unusual or complex individual consumer requests.  
• Recommends products and programs within company and industry guidelines that will assist borrowers in obtaining home ownership.  
• Analyzes and reviews financial statements, credit reports and applicable ratios for escalated files.  
• Provides explanations and supporting documentation rationale behind credit decisions.  
• Communicates effectively with internal staff to maintain high level of customer service.  
• Performs second level reviews.  
• Assists Quality Control with audit responses.  
• Facilitates communication between lenders and mortgage insurance companies.  
• Adheres to department turnaround standard of 24– 48 hours.  
• Performs other related duties as assigned and required.

III. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE:
• High School diploma or equivalent, required.  
• 5-8+ years of successful Jumbo, Non-Conforming underwriting experience in the mortgage lending industry required, with a minimum of 3 years leading people.  
• Proficiency in DU (Desktop Underwriter) and LP (Loan Prospector) Programs.  
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.  
• Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with branch, regional and corporate personnel as well as outside vendors.  
• Demonstrated judgment and decision making ability.  
• Must be able to work all regularly scheduled hours; arriving at scheduled reporting time and at the prescribed time after any breaks or lunch periods.
