DIRECTOR OF FINANCE & ACCOUNTING OPERATIONS

Confidential Search | Dallas, TX | Hybrid | Direct Hire

$150,000 – $180,000 depending on experience

Hiring on behalf of an established travel management company. The employer is disclosed to candidates who move forward.

THE ROLE

This is the senior finance seat at a multi-entity travel management company. You report directly to the President/CEO, sit on the executive team, and own the company's financial health end to end.

The current Director of Finance is leaving and the company is moving quickly. The client is looking for someone who already knows how a travel management company makes and moves money: supplier commissions, independent contractor (IC) commissions, travel back-office accounting, and the cash swings of seasonal travel demand. You would step into a real seat with real authority. Nothing has to be built from scratch.

The role is strategic but still close to the operation. You will advise the CEO on growth, capital structure and long-term planning. You will also make sure the close is clean, the commissions reconcile and Trams actually ties out. If you've worked finance inside a travel management company, travel agency or hospitality group and want the top seat, this is that job.

WHAT

YOU WILL OWN
  • All accounting, FP&A, treasury, tax and financial systems across multiple travel entities and divisions
  • Monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, consolidated and entity-level, GAAP compliant
  • Cash management, banking relationships and liquidity planning through seasonal travel demand cycles
  • Supplier and vendor commission tracking and reconciliation
  • IC commission calculations and payouts, corporate payroll, year-end W-2s and 1099s, and 401(k) trustee duties including the annual IRS 5500
  • Client and vendor billing, agency booking data reconciliations, audits and client reporting
  • Travel financial systems administration:
Trams, Sabre-linked back-office data, Quick Books, Grasp and related platforms
  • Entity formation and compliance across corporate affiliates, including registered agent requirements
  • Financial review of management contracts, franchise and brand agreements, and supplier and third-party operating agreements
  • Financial due diligence on potential management and consultant engagements
  • Standardized financial policies, procedures and reporting templates across the portfolio
  • Leading the finance team and building a working partnership between finance and travel operations
WHAT YOU BRING
  • Required: Senior finance leadership in the travel industry, ideally at a travel management company or travel agency; hospitality finance also considered
  • Required: Hands-on experience with travel back-office accounting, ideally Trams, plus familiarity with Sabre or another GDS
  • 15+ years of progressive finance and accounting leadership, including 8 to 10 in a senior financial leadership role
  • Strong grasp of travel revenue models: supplier commissions, overrides and incentives, service fees, and IC compensation structures
  • Multi-entity consolidation experience
  • A record of leading finance teams through growth
  • Advanced financial modeling, forecasting and business intelligence skills, and advanced Excel
  • Experience with management agreements, franchise or brand agreements, and ownership structures
  • Strong executive presence: you can present complex financials to any audience and be understood
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration preferred
  • Discretion and integrity with sensitive financial information
SCHEDULE

Hybrid. You'll work onsite during training, then 1 to 2 days per week in the Dallas office.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

$150,000 – $180,000 base depending on experience. Benefits include medical, dental and vision insurance, life insurance, a 401(k) with discretionary match, and paid time off.

The client has flexibility in the range for the right background. Candidates at the top end bring direct travel management company finance experience, Trams depth, and multi-entity consolidation.
