JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for assisting management, in collaboration with the Infection Prevention Director, in developing, implementing, and evaluating daily operations to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and standards related to the surveillance, prevention, and control of infection.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION Required
  • Education
    • Bachelor's Degree in nursing or related healthcare field from an accredited university
  • Experience
    • 7 years experience in infection prevention
  • Licenses and Certifications
    • If the candidate is a nurse, must hold an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas or be eligible for licensure by reciprocity Upon Hire
    • Certification in Infection Control from the Certification Board of Infection Control (CBIC) Upon Hire
Preferred
  • Education
    • Master's Degree in nursing or related healthcare field from an accredited university
JOB DUTIES
  • Collaborates with the Director of Infection Prevention to manage and supervise department staff, ensuring effective daily operations.
  • Recruits, trains, motivates, and evaluates team members to enhance performance and deliver high-quality service.
  • Promotes staff growth through ongoing education, training, and professional development opportunities.
  • Demonstrates effective leadership, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Leads interdisciplinary efforts to maintain regulatory compliance and survey readiness.
  • Serves as a department representative during accreditation and regulatory surveys, providing accurate information and expert support.
  • Develops, reviews, and maintains infection control policies and procedures aligned with current guidelines and best practices.
  • Oversees essential components of the infection prevention program, including:
    • Construction and renovation review
    • Evaluation of patient care environments
    • Product selection and evaluation
    • Disinfection and sterilization practices
  • Conducts routine unit rounds to monitor compliance and detect emerging infection issues.
  • Acts promptly in infection control emergencies, coordinating swift interventions.
  • Leads surveillance efforts to detect healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and community-acquired infections.
  • Collects, analyzes, and reports infection data in accordance with risk assessments and regulatory standards.
  • Utilizes epidemiologic tools to identify clusters or outbreaks and guide responsive strategies.
  • Prepares infection control reports, graphs, and materials for the Infection Control Committee and other quality initiatives.
  • Reports communicable diseases to public health authorities as required.
  • Coordinates and directs outbreak investigations in partnership with the Director and Medical Director:
