JOB SUMMARY

Works under minimal supervision to provide responsible technical assistance in the performance of assignments requiring basic knowledge of techniques and practices related to a particular field of science. We are seeking a highly motivated and detail‑oriented Research Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will contribute to projects aimed at understanding protein function and regulation using state‑of‑the‑art molecular biology and biochemical approaches.

The ideal candidate would be self‑motivated and possess strong initiative to problem‑solve and tackle experimental or technical issues. It is essential that the candidate pay close attention to detail, keep careful records of experiments and results, and demonstrate strong organizational, prioritization and time‑management skills. Adaptability to changing priorities and efficiency are also required. Candidates eager to learn in a fast‑paced research environment will be given the strongest consideration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and perform molecular biology experiments, including plasmid construction, cloning, and mutagenesis.
  • Generate and characterize CRISPR‑edited cell lines for functional studies.
  • Express and purify recombinant proteins using affinity and size‑exclusion chromatography.
  • Perform biochemical and biophysical assays to assess protein activity, stability, and interactions.
  • Conduct probe binding and fluorescence‑based assays (e.g., FP, FRET).
  • Maintain accurate lab records, prepare reagents, assist with data analysis, and present findings in lab meetings.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION Education Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree with major coursework in field of assignment and no experience or
  • Two (2) years of college with emphasis in coursework in field of assignment or
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Experience Requirements
  • No experience required with Bachelor’s Degree or
  • 2 years of laboratory experience at level of Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent with two (2) years of college
  • 4 years of laboratory experience including two years at level of Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent with High School Graduation or GED equivalent
JOB DUTIES
  • Performs routine scientific and medical research work in science areas such as biology, chemistry, physics, or other related scientific fields.
  • Assembles and/or operates various laboratory equipment and apparatus.
  • Records research data in accordance with prescribed procedures, discussing results with supervisor.
  • Assists in collection of data for project reports.
  • Reads literature and confers with supervisor concerning implementation of new procedures.
  • May plan for, and provide working supervision to, work of laboratory personnel of lower grade engaged in limited phases of research projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
