UT Southwestern Medical Center invites applications for a Research Technician II in Neurology. This position will work under minimal supervision to provide technical assistance in a laboratory setting, assisting in studies of mouse models of Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders.
Job SummaryWorks under minimal supervision to provide responsible technical assistance in performance of assignments requiring basic knowledge of techniques and practices related to particular field of science. The Research Technician assists with maintenance of the laboratory, equipment, and mouse colony, and performs research involving analysis of mouse models.
Responsibilities- Performs routine scientific and medical research work in biology, chemistry, physics, or related scientific fields.
- Assembles and operates various laboratory equipment and apparatus.
- Records research data and discusses results with supervisor.
- Assists in collection of data for project reports.
- Reviews literature and consults with supervisor concerning new procedures.
- May provide working supervision to lower‑grade laboratory personnel on limited research projects.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in relevant field, or at least two years of college with emphasis in relevant coursework, or High School Diploma/GED equivalent with additional experience. - Experience:
No prior experience required with a Bachelor’s degree; 2 years of laboratory experience at Laboratory Technical Assistant level; or 4 years of laboratory experience including 2 years at Laboratory Technical Assistant level.
