Job Description

The Surgical Technician (Scrub Tech) plays a crucial role in supporting surgical procedures by preparing the operating room, ensuring equipment functions properly, and assisting the surgical team throughout the procedure. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, teamwork abilities, and a commitment to excellent patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare the operating room by assembling surgical instruments, equipment, and necessary supplies.
  • Assist in the positioning of patients and ensuring their safety during surgical procedures.
  • Maintain a sterile field and ensure compliance with established infection control standards.
  • Pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon and surgical team during operations.
  • Monitor the patient’s condition and alert the surgical team to any changes during procedures.
  • Clean and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment according to established protocols.
  • Assist with post‑operative care, including transferring patients to recovery areas and ensuring smooth transition.
  • Document surgical procedures and maintain accurate records of all supplies used.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Actively participate in mass casualty exercises and events.
  • Complete required organizational compliance education, including client‑specified requirements for certification with the Joint Commission or other regulatory bodies.
Qualifications
  • The CST certification offered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of recent experience as a Surgical Technician, including at least six months in the past year.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
  • Experience on a military site working as a government subcontractor or prime contractor is preferred.
Education Required
  • Graduate from an accredited surgical technician program or have the military equivalent training course with a Certificate of Completion (e.g., 68D, HM8483, 4N1X1).
  • Medical Tech or related field.
Physical Requirements
  • Must meet pre‑deployment physical requirements.
  • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
  • May require bending, stooping, and lifting to 25 lbs.
Other Special Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.
  • Valid U.S. Passport with at least 18 months before expiration date; must maintain a current passport during your stay in Iraq.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance, specifically MRPT; applicants with current clearances are preferred.
  • Must be able to relocate to Iraq for the duration of the project.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English to effectively communicate.
