Experience and Education
  • Required
    • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred
    • Some college education
  • Clinical experience
  • Nutrition and Dietetics Technician, Registered (NDTR) credential preferred
Job Duties
  • Coordinates and provides individualized patient care with the storage, preparation, and packaging of breast milk and formulas in the Infant Nourishment Room.
  • Documents all relevant aspects of nutritional care for patients in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Generates labels, measures milk/formula, calculates additives, and fills feeding orders for a 24‑hour period according to physician orders.
  • Adheres to all sanitary regulations and standards per policy; responsible for safe and effective operation of equipment used to prepare infant milk mixtures.
  • Identifies and assists with opportunities for performance‑improvement activities on the unit and with other service areas.
  • Communicates effectively with other care providers to provide continuity of patient care and to meet the needs of the patients.
  • Demonstrates fiscal responsibility by taking ownership of time management, decreasing waste (of time and supplies), and promoting cost effectiveness while maintaining patient safety and quality of care.
  • Responds to management, nursing, and patient requests appropriately.
  • Attends in‑service educations and other required hospital training as directed.
  • Accurately maintains all documentation for the Infant Nourishment Room, e.g., temperature logs, expired products, etc.
  • Completes additional duties potentially including data collection, Health Touch operations, patient satisfaction initiatives (e.g., patient rounds, test trays, etc.), and assisting registered dietitians.
