High School Diploma - Experience
2 years experience in the field of Neurodiagnostics. Preferably in a hospital setting. - Licenses and Certifications
BLS BASIC LIFE SUPPORT course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC). Registered Vascular Tech (RVT). Reg Nerve Conduction Stdy Tech AAET Registry in Nerve Conduction Studies (R. NCS. T.). Regd Electroencephal Tech Abret EEG Registry (R. EEG T.). Registry in Evoked Potentials (R. EP T.). Certification for Neurophysiological Intraoperative Monitoring (CNIM). Certification for Autonomic Professionals (CAP).
Certification in Magnetoencephalography (CMEG). Certification through the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine in Nerve Conduction Technology (CNCT). Certification as Neurovascular Specialist (NVS).
- Education
Some college education
- Measures and accurately applies electrodes in a timely manner; performs routine, extended and continuous EEG procedures in the EMU or Neurosonology procedures in clinic and inpatient hospital settings. Educates patients and family using AIDET and appropriately utilizes methods designed to improve patient cooperation and comfort.
- Monitors patients hooked up for EEG testing in the EMU. Reports events to clinical staff and physicians. Works in accordance with the standards and protocols of the Neurodiagnostic Department and/or Neurosonology Lab.
- Provides technical descriptions of the EEG to support staff and nurses as they assess patients for comprehension and ability to cooperate during ictal and non‑ictal events as assigned. Clearly documents and reports clinical and electrographic changes in a timely manner as outlined in policy.
- Reviews and edits routine, extended and continuous EEG files or Neurosonology procedures; utilizing appropriately neurodiagnostic nomenclature in describing electrographic abnormalities or concerning patterns. Prunes, clips and archives files as needed according to department policy.
- Demonstrates independence in at least two of the following advanced Neurodiagnostic procedures in an inpatient and/or outpatient setting:
Nerve Conduction, EMG (assist physicians), Transcranial doppler, Carotid duplex, Emboli detection studies, Evoked Potentials, Ecog or cortical mapping, Wada, SEEG or surgical EEG (full setup and montage creation). Supervises daily workflow in the absence of the department manager and Lead technologists as assigned. Required to participate in conferences and lead in‑services within the department. - Clearly documents a comprehensive patient history gathering appropriate information from the patient, the patient’s record, and family members including neurological symptomology…
