Job Summary
Senior Employee Relations Consultant – Join UT Southwestern in our Human Resources Department as a senior consultant. As an Employee Relations Consultant, you will be the partner, strategist, and subject matter HR expert. You will facilitate advice and problem resolution on employee relations matters, work collaboratively with various departments, and create a positive, proactive employee relations culture across the hospital and university.
The role supports a large customer/employee group, conducts investigations, and counsels supervisors and employees. This flexible role is on a hybrid schedule (two days remote, three days on campus) and as needed.

- High School Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- 9 years of professional experience in HR/ER management, including at least 3 years in a specific area. If holding a Bachelor’s degree, at least 5 years of experience with 3 years in the area.
- Provides advice, problem resolution, and facilitation in employee relations, performance management, and related matters.
- Counsels and advises leadership and employees to resolve work‑related matters and improve workforce performance.
- Facilitates conversations between supervisors and employees for accountability and resolution; conducts investigations and prepares recommendations.
- Assists supervisors in articulating facts that support disciplinary action and reviews all requests to ensure factual support.
- Builds effective partnership with customers and understands their work and challenges.
- Uses data from surveys and reports to identify trends and proactively address concerns.
- Facilitates employee grievance and appeal processes for classified employees and prepares documentation for review.
- Supports development of training for managers and employees; partners with ODT to deliver training and surveys.
- Maintains required information in Employee Relations databases within 3 business days of receipt.
- Interprets and communicates UTSW policies and procedures clearly; stays abreast of state and federal laws.
- Collaborates with Legal, Compliance, Internal Audit, and Leave Administration as needed.
- Participates in TWC Unemployment hearings, providing necessary information.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
This position is security‑sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code 51.215, which authorizes UT Southwestern to obtain criminal history record information.
