Job Summary

The Onsite CDL Driver Recruiter is responsible for managing the recruitment process for commercial driver’s license (CDL) holders, primarily from an office or remote location. The role includes identifying, screening, interviewing, and hiring qualified CDL drivers to meet the staffing needs of the organization, ensuring a skilled and dependable workforce that meets safety and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize the Ten Street ATS, employee referrals, and other sources to review potential CDL drivers.
  • Initiate contact with candidates via phone, email, and other communication methods to assess interest and qualifications.
  • Build rapport and influence potential drivers to join Stevens Transport.
  • Review DOT, state, local, and company requirements to assess candidates’ qualifications and ensure compliance with CDL requirements.
  • Conduct phone interviews to evaluate driving skills, work history, and alignment with company standards.
  • Verify driving records, criminal records, and employment history to validate eligibility.
  • Maintain accurate records of candidate documentation and information.
  • Coordinate and conduct in‑depth interviews to assess decision‑making skills, professionalism, and commitment to safety.
  • Administer relevant tests or assessments to evaluate candidate abilities.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to identify the most suitable candidates for available CDL driver positions.
  • Extend job offers and negotiate compensation packages as needed.
  • Assist with onboarding, including orientation, training, and compliance with company policies.
  • Generate and maintain recruitment reports, metrics on sourcing, interviews, and hiring outcomes.
  • Use recruitment software and databases to manage candidate data efficiently.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with current and potential CDL drivers, attending industry events and job fairs to promote the company.
  • Ensure constant communication with applicants throughout the recruiting life cycle.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in applicant tracking systems (ATS), recruitment software, and related tools.
  • Strong computer and typing skills in a Windows environment, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to handle high volumes of inbound and outbound calls and emails.
  • Ability to perform in a fast‑paced environment with rapidly changing priorities and competing deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and work autonomously while collaborating as a team player.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of CDL requirements, FMCSA regulations, and industry standards.
  • Previous experience in recruitment, especially CDL driver recruitment or a related role in transportation or logistics.
  • Exceptional organizational and time‑management abilities.
  • Commitment to safety and compliance.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate candidate documentation.
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, and active listening skills.
  • Experience with Ten Street ATS.
