Job DescriptionWe are seeking a motivated Junior SQL Developer with hands‑on experience in AWS RDS, SQL performance tuning, and SSIS ETL development to join our growing data engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically curious developer early in their career to work on real‑world data pipelines, cloud database infrastructure, and mission‑critical reporting systems. You will play a key role in designing, building, and optimizing data solutions that power business insights, ensure data accuracy, and support scalable applications.
Job Responsibilities- Write, refactor, and performance‑tune complex T‑SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and views.
- Analyze execution plans, add appropriate indexing, and resolve bottlenecks in high‑volume environments.
- Implement best practices for error handling, transactions, and query reusability.
- Provision, configure, and maintain Amazon RDS instances (SQL Server, Postgre
SQL, MySQL). - Manage backups, restores, replication, Multi‑AZ deployments, and automated snapshots.
- Monitor performance using Cloud Watch, Performance Insights, and RDS Enhanced Monitoring.
- Apply security best practices: IAM roles, VPC security groups, encryption at rest/transit, and parameter groups.
- Design, develop, and deploy SSIS packages for ETL/ELT workflows using Visual Studio and SQL Server Data Tools.
- Implement data validation, error logging, restartability, and package configurations.
- Migrate legacy DTS/SSIS packages and optimize for performance and reliability.
- Schedule and monitor SSIS jobs via SQL Server Agent or AWS SSM/Airflow.
- Collaborate with analysts and developers to design normalized/denormalized schemas and data marts.
- Participate in code reviews, data architecture discussions, and sprint planning.
- Assist in large‑scale data migrations (on‑prem → cloud, cross‑database).
- Build reusable ETL frameworks for recurring data loads.
- Support BI teams by creating staging tables, views, and report‑ready datasets.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 1–3 years of hands‑on experience with:
- T‑SQL (complex joins, CTEs, window functions, dynamic SQL)
- SQL Server 2016+ (on‑prem or RDS)
- AWS RDS (instance setup, scaling, backups, monitoring)
- SSIS (control flow, data flow, scripting tasks, deployments)
- Solid understanding of relational database design, normalization, and indexing strategies.
- Experience with source control (Git preferred).
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication — able to explain technical concepts clearly.
