This position requires office presence of a minimum of 5 days per week and is only located in the location(s) posted. No relocation is offered.

What You'll Do:

This position coordinates and negotiates transport requirements with customers and suppliers that are external (LECs, Independent Telcos, etc) and internal (Project Managers, Process planners, Implementation Engineers, etc.) to AT&T. The Senior Network Technology Engineer is responsible for maintaining specific geographic areas of the transport footprint, and the routing and circuit management of internal and external customers, with duties including:

  • Maintain intermediate level knowledge of targeted equipment options and their capabilities in support of managing network demands.
  • Builds and maintaining equipment hierarchy inventory in various databases
  • Monitors and manages network element capacity, initiating augmentations as necessary to meet circuit demand.
  • Route ethernet circuits across the Metro layer 1 transport network efficiently and in a cost-effective manner to support accelerated customer delivery timelines.

What You'll Bring:

  • Design, plan, develop and/or evaluate new, advanced hardware and software technologies and enhancements/modifications of existing products for addition and/or application to existing network systems.
  • Recommends network architecture and network evolution strategy in support of corporate initiatives, customer demand, technology changes, economic and service reliability criteria.
  • Evaluates new and emerging hardware and software technologies for addition and/or application to existing cloud-based and purpose-built network systems.
  • Develop new or use existing network modeling and planning methodologies to develop best cost-considerate solutions and 3+ Year technology strategic roadmap.
  • Define subsystems interfaces, identify, and allocate application resources for software-defined network elements of cloud-based and purpose-built platforms that may be developed internally and by vendors.
  • Develop test and implementation plans, including M&P, for both internally designed and vendor-developed hardware/software solutions.
  • Evaluate impact of vendor's solution on Mobility and Wireline networks and/or applications, service, or solution. May perform product engineering assignments, including design, development, M&P, and testing of network hardware, firmware, or software solutions.
  • Lead and roll out design and design changes to partner organizations.
  • Work across the different domain teams to define end-to-end, system-level design requirements, as well as, providing architectural expertise and guidance to the cross-functional teams (Labs, Global Technology Planning, Operations, Project Management, etc.) from requirements through to deployment.
What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) desired. 3+ years of related experience.
  • Ability to make decisions and to negotiate while meeting the strategic company, departments and customer objectives. Key requirements include:

  • Adapts to evolving technologies to champion initiatives that enhance operational effectiveness and drive organizational success
