The role is a mix of project work and support tasks that focus on the Thrive Cloud platform, working and reporting to the Director, Cloud Networking to design and deploy network services within Thrive Data Centres. There is also an element of client work and consultancy for clients that have non‑standard setups and more complex requirements, including involvement in client DR tests.
Candidates should be at CCNP level with a minimum of 5+ years of network engineering and administration experience and a bachelor’s degree in a related field, preferably Information Technology.
- Assist in designing, implementing, and maintaining the regional Thrive Cloud network and internal networking infrastructure; in the absence of the network manager, lead these activities.
- Research and tailor new networking and security solutions to meet internal and customer business requirements.
- Provide on‑call support for network escalations on a rota basis.
- Assist in the creation of technical documentation such as MS Visio network diagrams, high/low level designs, user guides and knowledge base articles.
- Frequent visits to data centres throughout the USA.
- Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Experience with multi‑tenant infrastructure – Cisco VRF‑Lite, Fortinet VDOMS, Cisco multi‑context firewalls.
- In-depth understanding of core networking protocols and services: TCP/IPv4, UDP, DNS, DHCP, NAT, SPAN/RSPAN, SNMPv
3. - Strong knowledge of switching technologies: ARP, PVST, RSTP, MST, LACP, HSRP/VRRP.
- Expertise in network routing protocols/applications: OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, IP SLA.
- Experience with route redistribution & filtering, provider independent addressing, ARIN, RIPE.
- Knowledge of Site‑to‑Site VPNs – IPSec, GRE, DM VPN, Front‑door VRF.
- Experience deploying next‑gen firewalls – URL/App Filtering, Anti‑Virus, IPS, SSL Decryption.
- Proficient with hardware:
Firewalls (Fortinet, Meraki, Palo Alto, Cisco);
Cisco ISR & ASR routers;
Cisco Nexus 3k/9k;
Cisco Catalyst 3750/3850/9300;
Cisco Meraki wireless; WAN connectivity. - Exposure to VMWare hosts and SANs; experience with Disaster Recovery tests.
- Experience working in a datacenter environment: racking, stacking, cabling, Smart Hands, cross‑connects.
- Accurately designing and documenting client infrastructure.
- Experience with performance monitoring platforms:
Solar Winds, PRTG, N-able.
