Position: Quality Assurance Specialist – Automated Testing / Mainframe

As a Quality Assurance Specialist within PNC’s Lending Technology Credit Card Processing Rewards organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA, Strongsville, OH, or Dallas, TX.

The position is primarily based in a PNC location. Responsibilities require time in the office or in the field on a regular basis.

As a Quality Assurance Specialist, you will play a critical role in translating business requirements into comprehensive testing strategies across both modern and legacy systems. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the project lifecycle, contributing to test planning, execution, and automation for Java-based applications and mainframe systems. Your responsibilities will span functional, regression, system, and integration testing, as well as data validation using SQL across Oracle and DB2 environments.

You’ll also support CI/CD integration, defect management, and documentation to ensure quality and compliance.

Ideal candidates will have hands‑on experience with both manual and automated testing tools such as Selenium, JUnit, and Postman, along with a solid understanding of mainframe technologies including JCL, COBOL, and CICS. Familiarity with Agile methodologies, strong analytical skills, and the ability to quickly learn new technologies are essential. QA certifications like ISTQB are preferred, and experience with performance‑testing tools and cross‑system validation (e.g., MQ Series, Kafka) is a plus.

Job Description
  • Participates in the quality assurance process; follows procedures to ensure that all software products and components meet company standards and client requirements.
  • Performs code inspections, walk‑throughs, design, and test‑readiness reviews.
  • Reviews software and project documentation for completeness and adherence to standards.
  • Works on problem resolutions and reports progress to management. Plans, executes, and summarizes reliability and validation test cases; interfaces with developers on test results.
  • Assists in audits and reviews. Writes and executes test plans and cases for testing of software.
