Bachelor's Degree in a computer related field - Experience
- Experience:
5 years experience in the field directly related to the type of database maintained including experience working with and maintaining large complex databases. - Licenses and Certifications
- Certification in at least one relevant operating system or associated technology. May be required to submit to a federal background investigation.
- Analyzes and remediates problems involving: operating systems, database systems, applications or other technologies; troubleshoots system components and recommends improvements in support of an efficient highly available data center operation.
- Installs and documents database architecture; assists with building database schemas, tables, procedures and permissions.
- Works to identify and propose innovative and creative solutions that enhance or increase the efficiency of the services provided by Information Resources to the campus community; develops database utilities and automated reporting.
- Creates shell scripts for database task automation; creates, tests, and executes instructions sets such as scripts and queries using appropriate data management and programming languages.
- Analyzes and sustains capacity and performance requirements by establishing and calculating optimum values for database parameters using manuals and calculator; analyzes, consolidates and tunes databases for optimal efficiency.
- Monitors database systems and platforms for availability; oversees backup, clustering, mirroring, replication and failover installation, configuration and testing.
- Oversees restoration and recovery of corrupted databases; reviews project requests describing analyst needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project.
- Schedules, plans and supervises the installation and testing of database system upgrades and patches to computer systems such as the installation of new databases;
Provides 24/7 support for critical situations. - Works as part of a project team to determine database and application project scope and limitations; evaluates and recommends new database technologies.
- Provides support for Call Center (Service Now) incidents; assists with responses to security incidents to prevent additional loss and obtains and preserves forensic evidence.
- Identifies and analyzes that impact of database and application system security vulnerabilities in relation to the enterprise environment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
