Data Engineer
We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our Rexel team in Oklahoma! Remote
Summary: The Senior Data Engineer is a hands‑on technical expert responsible for building, operating, and scaling the company’s data ingestion, data preparation, and data egress layers. This role focuses on centralizing source data into Snowflake and transmitting transformed data out of Snowflake in a manner that is reliable, fast, accurate, and trusted. The Senior Data Engineer will configure and monitor ingestion pipelines, partner with project teams to onboard new data sources, and prepare data for further transformation by Analytics Engineers.
In addition, this role will support analytics and operational use cases by implementing scalable reverse ETL patterns. This role is highly technical, execution‑focused, and requires someone deeply motivated to pursue consistent excellence in large scale data movement.
- Source Onboarding & Data Ingestion Operations Configure & Operate Ingestion Pipelines:
Set up, operate, and monitor Fivetran connections to ingest data from enterprise systems (SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, etc.) into Snowflake. Ensure correct configuration for hybrid deployment and incremental data loading, soft‑deletes, and scheduling/orchestration Source System Coordination:
Partner with IT teams, DBAs, and application administrators to ensure continuous source access and prevention of breaking changes. Support onboarding of new data sources through consistent, repeatable processes, and serve as resident expert on Fivetran system behavior - Data Preparation & Standardization Historical Tracking & Snapshots:
Implement efficient patterns to capture change history, soft deletes, and record versioning in support of SCD and time series use cases Standardization:
Develop and maintain dbt models / macros to standardize raw data, including naming conventions, data type enforcement, document hygiene, and source‑level testing. Ensure prepared data is consistent and reliable for downstream Analytics Engineering use - Operational Reliability Pipeline Monitoring & Incident Response:
Leverage tooling to monitor ingestion, preparation, and egress jobs for failures, delays, and data anomalies. Contribute to and follow runbooks for identifying, escalating, and resolving issues appropriately Data Trust & Observability Support:
Partner with Platform, Analytics Engineering, Data Governance, and to implement trust and observability infrastructure as they pertain to ingestion, preparation, and egress using tools such as Atlan and Monte Carlo. Diagnose and collaborate to resolving freshness, connectivity, and schema evolution issues - Data Egress & Activation Snowflake Data Egress:
Support operational and data activation use cases by configuring and maintaining Census syncs from Snowflake to internal and third‑party destinations such as APIs, file servers, and cloud storage. Ensure data refresh timing and field mappings meet business requirements Reliability of Reverse ETL Pipelines:
Monitor and troubleshoot Census jobs to ensure dependable delivery of data to consuming systems - Cross‑Team
Collaboration:
Partner closely with Analytics Engineering, Platform, and Data Governance teams to ensure data is delivered in a form that supports modeling, analytics, and operational needs - Other duties as assigned
