Remote | $43-$45/hr
Are you an experienced fiber technician, tester, splicer, or network professional who understands what fiber-test results actually mean
?
We are hiring a remote Fiber Infrastructure Analyst to support field teams working on large-scale fiber deployment projects.
Rather than spending every day physically installing fiber, you will act as the technical resource helping field engineers diagnose problems. Field teams perform testing and send the results back to you. You will review the data, determine whether the fiber is performing correctly, identify likely problem areas, and guide the technician through the next troubleshooting steps.
Typical issues may involve:
- Excessive optical loss
- Fiber distance discrepancies
- Dirty or damaged connectors
- Faulty splices
- Incorrect terminations
- Routing issues
- Patch-panel or rack connectivity
- Testing setup problems
You may ask the technician to clean and retest a connector, check a splice, test from another point, verify a termination, or investigate a specific distance along the fiber route
.
What we're looking for
- Experience testing or troubleshooting fiber-optic networks
- Familiarity with OTDR testing and trace interpretation
- Knowledge of fiber loss, distance, connectors, splices, and terminations
- Experience with EXFO equipment or Fast Reporter is highly desirable
- Understanding of ISP and/or OSP fiber infrastructure
- Experience with racks, patch panels, ODFs, or network fiber routes
- Strong troubleshooting instincts
- Ability to communicate technical instructions clearly to field technicians
- Ability to manage several projects or issues at the same time
- Telecom, carrier, long-haul, metro-fiber, data-center, or fiber-construction backgrounds are all relevant
Experience with
OLTS, power meters, VFL, CD/PMD, fiber characterization, DWDM, dark fiber, or backbone networks is highly valuable but not mandatory.
