Executive Underwriter OR AVP Underwriting Director – Excess Casualty
Zurich Insurance is seeking an experienced Executive Underwriter or AVP, Underwriting Director for Excess Casualty, based in the Dallas/Addison, TX office.
Hybrid work: office 3 days per week, flexible schedule.
Responsibilities- Proactively seek new account opportunities and manage existing renewal accounts.
- Demonstrate specialized knowledge of underwriting excess casualty and umbrella lines.
- Complete detailed opportunity assessments with key distributors to identify growth opportunities.
- Contribute to the development and completion of proposals.
- Qualify accounts that meet the organization’s appetite while balancing sound business opportunity.
- Make agent/broker/customer and on‑site calls with a planned and well‑prepared purpose.
- Negotiate terms & conditions and close deals.
- Cross‑sell other lines of business to increase product density with the account.
- Participate in sales team meetings related to assigned brokers and/or territory.
- Proactively engage in the target account process, managing a qualified list of opportunities 90–120 days prior to effective date.
- Develop strong broker and client networks within industries underwritten by the Business Unit.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent with 5+ years in underwriting or market‑facing roles, OR 10+ years in claims or underwriting support.
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an associate degree with 3+ years in underwriting or market‑facing roles, OR 8+ years in claims or underwriting support.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Experience working under time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.
- Experience with umbrella underwriting.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent with 7+ years underwriting or market‑facing, OR 14+ years in claims or underwriting support.
- Zurich approved apprenticeship program with an associate degree and 5+ years underwriting or market‑facing, OR 12+ years in claims or underwriting support.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- CPCU.
- Advanced knowledge of national account excess casualty product lines.
- Knowledge of national account primary casualty and loss‐sensitive programs and accounts.
- Strong broker/customer relationships.
- Excellent communication, relationship building, and presentation skills.
- Results‑oriented mindset.
Location:
Dallas / Addison, TX. Hybrid. Full‑time.
Salary range: $ – $ (depending on level).
