Job Summary

The Placement Specialist will market property and casualty insurance programs on prospective accounts for small to middle‑market accounts. The role involves gathering, analyzing, and organizing data; preparing submissions and applications, negotiating coverage terms, and preparing proposals for prospects, for both new and renewal business.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain timelines and processes during new business and renewal processes, including exposure analysis, quote specifications, and negotiation of coverage offers.
  • Communicate effectively within the team, including with producers and segment leaders.
  • Review insurance policies and contracts and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Prepare property and casualty insurance submissions for new prospects and renewing accounts, including insurance specifications, Acord applications, loss summaries, prospect profiles, and exposure schedules.
  • Attend prospect and proposal meetings with producers as needed.
  • Analyze Excel spreadsheets of prospect exposure and loss data, and develop financial models for loss‑sensitive programs.
  • Answer prospect and carrier phone calls.
  • Maintain familiarity and working relationships with various insurance companies and wholesalers.
  • Handle confidential and non‑routine information.
  • Adhere to all licensing requirements, including continuing education.
  • Attend seminars, company meetings, carrier events, and educational activities to improve product knowledge.
  • Work independently and on team projects—special, non‑recurring, and ongoing.
Requirements
  • Excellent phone etiquette, written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work with minimum supervision and receive direction on assignments.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure document accuracy.
  • Effective team‑based customer service skills.
  • Experience with a broker/agent marketing small to middle‑market accounts to carriers; excellent knowledge of those markets.
  • Strong knowledge of all basic P&C coverages.
  • Superior presentation or relationship skills for presenting proposals in a highly interactive role.
Education and Experience
  • Minimum 3–5 years of relevant commercial lines experience.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Licensed in property and casualty insurance required.
  • Pursuit of a professional designation—CISR, CIC, AAI, ARM, CPCU—preferred.
  • Experience with Epic preferred.

Candidate should be comfortable with an on‑site presence to support collaboration, team leadership, and cross‑functional partnership.
