Senior Annuity Specialist

Position Description

The Senior Annuity Specialist manages key relationships with independent agents and distribution partners selling our annuity products. This role drives application flow and production through proactive outreach, advanced product expertise, production analysis, and agent training, and serves as a mentor and resource to Annuity Specialists. The ideal candidate is highly organized, self-directed, and energized by building relationships by phone and in virtual settings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Agent & Agency Relationship Management

  • Proactively contacts new and existing agents and distribution partners by phone, email, and virtual meeting to identify sales opportunities, promote company products, and grow production; this is the primary focus of the role.
  • Develops and manages key agent and agency relationships, identifying opportunities to increase production within assigned agencies and distribution channels.
  • Conducts periodic business reviews with key agents to assess production trends, challenges, and opportunities.

Advanced Annuity Product Expertise

  • Serves as a subject-matter resource on annuity products, product positioning, competitive features, and sales concepts.
  • Assists agents with complex product comparisons and sales scenarios.
  • Monitors competitive product changes and communicates significant market developments to leadership and the distribution team.

Production & Market Analysis

  • Analyzes agent production, application activity, and pipeline trends to identify business opportunities.
  • Identifies underperforming and high-potential agents and recommends targeted outreach strategies.
  • Shares observations and recommendations with leadership on agent behavior, market trends, and competitive activity.

Agent Training & Education

  • Leads or co-leads agent training sessions, webinars, and product education.
  • Develops or contributes to training materials and sales resources.
  • Serves as a resource and mentor to Annuity Specialists, assisting with complex agent inquiries, case issues, product questions, and sales strategies.
  • Shares best practices for agent outreach, relationship management, and production development.

Product Launches & Special Projects

  • Serves as a key point of contact during new annuity product launches, coordinating agent follow-up to drive awareness, applications, and production.
  • Supports the implementation and communication of new products, procedures, and initiatives.
  • Leads or participates in special projects related to annuity distribution, agent experience, sales processes, and process improvement.
  • Identifies workflow improvements and recommends process enhancements to management.
  • Performs other sales and marketing duties as assigned.

II. Position Complexity, Interaction & Impact

The Senior Annuity Specialist exercises a high degree of independent judgment in managing key agent relationships, prioritizing outreach, and determining how best to respond to agent inquiries. Decisions are made within established product guidelines, underwriting standards, compliance requirements, and company procedures; exceptions and complex case issues are escalated to the supervisor or the appropriate department.

The position has no direct reports but mentors Annuity Specialists and uses persuasion and influence to motivate agents to place business with the company and to secure timely support from internal teams.

Interaction is primarily informative, coordinative, and advisory: educating agents on products and processes, advising on complex sales scenarios, promoting sales initiatives, and coordinating case and service needs across departments. The role reports to and works regularly with the direct supervisor and the EVP, Annuity Distribution, and interacts daily with external agents, distribution partners, and the sales team.

This position directly impacts LBIG's success by strengthening key agent relationships, increasing application flow and production, developing the capabilities of the Annuity Specialist team, and delivering a responsive, high-quality experience that sets the company apart with its distribution partners.
