This role offers the opportunity to work alongside accomplished attorneys in a fast-paced, collaborative environment while supporting complex insurance defense litigation cases.
Key Responsibilities- Assist attorneys in all phases of insurance defense litigation
, from case inception through trial. - Draft, review, and prepare legal documents, pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and trial exhibits
. - Conduct legal research on case law, statutes, and regulations relevant to insurance defense matters.
- Manage and organize case files, medical records, expert reports, and deposition summaries
. - Coordinate and track court deadlines, depositions, hearings, and trial schedules
. - Assist in fact investigation, witness interviews, and document review to support case development.
- Prepare for trials, mediations, and depositions
, including organizing trial binders and exhibits. - Review and summarize medical records, accident reports, and insurance policies
. - Work closely with clients, insurance adjusters, opposing counsel, and expert witnesses
. - Manage electronic discovery (e-discovery) and document production using legal case management software.
- Education: Paralegal certificate or associate/bachelor’s degree in legal studies or a related field.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience as an insurance defense paralegal in a law firm setting.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of insurance defense litigation, court procedures, and case management
. - Proficiency in legal research tools (Westlaw, Lexis Nexis), e-filing systems, and document management software
. - Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills
. - Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
. - Experience reviewing and summarizing medical records and insurance policies is a plus.
