We are looking for an Insurance Defense Litigation Paralegal with excellent computer and typing skills to work in a fast-paced, high-volume legal environment. This position supports a firm partner and assists additional attorneys in the litigation section of the firm as needed.
The ideal candidate will have both superior organizational skills and a masterful understanding of the litigation flow, as well as demonstrate the appropriate urgency and initiative in performing tasks that advance the cases toward resolution; will assist attorneys in prepping and organizing cases for hearings, depositions, mediations and trials, ordering and summarizing records, preparing affidavits and correspondence, conducting legal research, summarizing depositions, e-filing pleadings, scheduling, reviewing and analyzing law sources, and communications with attorneys and clients.
It is imperative that the paralegal understands how to manage a case from beginning to end.
Key Responsibilities:- Summarize cases and prepare reports for attorneys
- Conduct research, investigate facts, and develop legal arguments
- Draft legal documents such as contracts, depositions, and pleadings
- Prepare and file documents with courts
- Organize and archive the documents related to completed and ongoing cases
- Keep track of changes in the legal framework and provide timely updates on these changes
- Conduct client interviews and maintain general contact with the client
- Locate and interview witnesses
- Bill out time
- Conduct investigations, statistical and documentary, and legal research
- Draft legal documents, correspondence, and pleadings
- Summarize depositions, interrogatories, and testimony
