Associate Attorney (Construction Defect)

Job OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Associate Attorney specializing in Construction Defect Law to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will have 3-6 years of experience in construction defect litigation and a strong understanding of related legal principles. This full-time position offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth and development in a challenging and rewarding field.
Key Responsibilities- Handle all aspects of construction defect litigation, from case inception through trial or settlement
- Conduct thorough legal research and analysis on complex construction defect issues
- Draft and review pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents
- Prepare and respond to discovery requests
- Conduct depositions of fact witnesses, expert witnesses, and corporate representatives
- Participate in mediations, arbitrations, and settlement negotiations
- Collaborate with expert witnesses, including architects, engineers, and contractors
- Develop case strategies and theories in consultation with senior attorneys and clients
- Manage multiple cases simultaneously, ensuring timely completion of all tasks and adherence to deadlines
- Maintain regular communication with clients, providing updates on case progress and legal strategies
- Attend site inspections and document construction defects
- Analyze construction plans, specifications, and contracts
- Stay current with changes in construction defect law and related regulations
- Mentor junior attorneys and paralegals on construction defect matters
- Participate in business development activities and contribute to the firm's growth
Required:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
- Active membership in good standing with the State Bar
- 3-6 years of experience with 2 recent years in construction defect litigation
- Strong knowledge of construction defect law, building codes, and industry standards
- Proficiency in legal research tools such as Westlaw or Lexis Nexis
- Experience with case management software
