Job Description :
The Structures Technician will maintain, repair, modify, fabricate, and install parts, items, and assemblies of structural components using current technical data such as blueprints or manufacturers' drawings/manuals. The technician plans, lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs, and repairs internal and external aircraft structures and surfaces. Repairs involve various sheet metal types and thicknesses. The technician will remove and replace fasteners such as solid rivets, blind rivets, HI-Locs, etc.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities :
- Read and write English.
- Follow work instructions and document work performed using process planning, adhesive log sheets, MRB/EWOs, process specifications, OEM manuals, etc.
- Read blueprints.
- Use precise measuring tools (scales, micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, etc.).
- Operate hand tools (drill motors, die grinders, rivet guns, fastener installation tools, etc.).
- Perform alignment/assembly using jigs, templates, and fixtures.
- Perform trimming, burring, countersinking, riveting, drilling, and reaming to blueprint specifications.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Training :
- Must be 18 years or older and legally allowed to work in the U.S.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read blueprints, specifications, technical manuals, and test procedures.
Experience, Skills, and Knowledge :
- 6+ years of experience preferred.
- Airframe and Power Plant license preferred.
- Must pass a Respirator Fit Test and maintain compliance throughout employment, including remaining clean-shaven where facial hair may interfere with respirator sealing.
This position is safety-sensitive under FAA regulations and subject to DOT and FAA drug and alcohol testing programs. Employees must pass pre-employment testing and comply with ongoing testing requirements.
Physical Requirements :
- Occasional lifting of items weighing up to 60 pounds.
- Physical effort involving standing, walking, and sitting.
