Job DescriptionThe Structures Technician will maintain, repair, modify, fabricates, and install parts, items, and assemblies of structural components using current technical data such as blueprints or manufacturer drawings/manuals. The technician plans, lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs, and repairs both internal and external aircraft structures and surfaces for aircraft repair. The technician performs repairs with varying sheet metal types and thicknesses, and removes and replaces various fastener types such as solid rivets, blind rivets, HI‑Locs, etc.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Read and write English.
- Read and follow all work instructions, and properly document work performed using process planning, adhesive log sheets, MRB/EWO’s, Process Specifications, OEM Manuals, etc.
- Read basic blueprints.
- Use close tolerance measuring tools (scales, micrometers, calipers, depth gauges).
- Use hand tools (drill motors, die grinders, rivet guns, fastener installation tools).
- Perform alignment/assembly using jigs, templates, and fixtures.
- Perform trimming, burring, countersinking, riveting, drilling, and reaming to blueprint‑specified tolerance.
- All other duties assigned.
- Must be 18 years or older and legally allowed to work in the U.S.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Ability to read blueprints, specifications, technical manuals and test equipment procedures.
- 6+ years experience preferred.
- Airframe and Power Plant license preferred.
- Must successfully pass a Respirator Fit Test before performing duties requiring respiratory protection and maintain compliance with fit testing requirements throughout employment.
- This position is classified as safety‑sensitive under FAA regulations and is subject to the Department of Transportation and FAA Drug and Alcohol Testing Program. Employees must pass a pre‑employment drug test and be subject to random, post‑accident, reasonable suspicion, return‑to‑duty, and follow‑up testing.
- Ongoing compliance with all FAA drug and alcohol regulations is required throughout employment.
- Requires lifting items weighing up to 60 pounds on an occasional basis.
- Requires physical effort associated with standing, walking, sitting.
