Summary

Conducts functions to inspect, test, assess, and record product quality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Inspect and test products using standard methods to ensure they meet customer and product specifications, alerting production when standards are not met.
  • Monitor product tracking methods (e.g., UPC, date stamps) and maintain customer samples.
  • Put questionable products on hold, organize re-work if necessary, and inspect returned products.
  • Prepare printing supplies for production according to work orders and schedules.
  • Prepare routine reports, including data gathering and summarizing.
  • Inspect and test incoming supplies and raw materials.
  • Assist in training other production employees in quality assurance procedures and standards.
  • Review SPC data, proof new printing plates, and track/maintain label and ink inventory, generating requisitions for approval.
  • Ensure proper packaging specifications and acceptable quality standards for products.
  • Complete a minimum of 4 quality checks per shift on the production floor.
  • Follow and participate in plant safety, GMP, and HACCP programs.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Previous quality assurance experience or achievement of the Production Tech B classification. Ability to input and retrieve data on a computer. Basic understanding of equipment and processes. Good communication and interpersonal skills, with strong attention to detail.

Language Skills

Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Effective presentation skills in one-on-one and small group settings.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to perform basic math operations, compute rates, ratios, percentages, and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Apply common sense to carry out detailed or uncomplicated instructions. Handle problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

None required.

Physical Demands

Frequent standing, walking, talking, hearing; occasional sitting; use of hands; reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, smelling. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Work Environment

Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, occasional exposure to wet/humid conditions, high places, fumes, outdoor weather, vibration. Noise level is usually loud; hearing protection required.
