Operates the equipped industrial forklift to move materials in the warehouse region and to load and unload truck trailers or shipping containers. Operators maintain the equipment, machines, and electrical components.

• Move controls, devices, and levers to drive forklifts to transfer materials between unloading, processing, loading, and storage areas.
• Organize and secure stored materials such as boxes and pallets.
• Load or unload materials manually onto pallets, platforms, skids, or lifting devices.
• Perform routine post and pre inspections to ensure suitable working condition of forklift equipment.
• Report to Supervisor regarding any damage to faulty equipment or any safety hazards.
• Weigh products or materials and record weight and production information on labels and tags.
• Complete forklift operator training provided by Surlean.
• Perform other duties as allotted by Supervisor.

Frequently requires standing, lifting, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, smelling, listening, speaking, and seeing to perform the essential job duties. Work conditions vary; hours vary based on production needs. Temperatures range from 30 to 110 degrees in processing departments. Exposure to potentially dangerous machinery and equipment is present. Potential electrical, mechanical, and chemical hazards are present. The noise level is high and constant.

Floors are damp and slick. Must be able to bend, stoop, pull and lift up to 50 lbs., and to stand for long periods of time.

High school degree preferred. Certification in operating forklifts is an advantage.
