About the Company

Headboards World is a growing upholstered furniture manufacturer specializing in custom upholstered beds, headboards, daybeds, banquettes, chairs, sofas, and specialty furniture.

We are expanding our Dallas manufacturing operations and investing in advanced production methods, product engineering, digital pattern development, and manufacturing standardization.

About the Position

We are seeking an experienced Upholstery Pattern Maker & CAD Specialist to develop, digitize, test, and standardize fabric cutting patterns for upholstered furniture production.

This is a hands-on technical manufacturing position requiring practical pattern-making experience, digital CAD capabilities, and a strong understanding of upholstery construction.

The selected candidate will play an important role in establishing our company’s standardized fabric cutting-pattern library.

This is not a graphic design, 3D rendering, or general CAD drafting position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop accurate fabric cutting patterns from physical upholstered furniture, measurements, technical drawings, and product specifications.
  • Create patterns for beds, headboards, daybeds, banquettes, chairs, sofas, cushions, and other upholstered products.
  • Establish appropriate seam allowances, wrap allowances, cutting dimensions, and construction specifications.
  • Digitize, organize, and maintain reusable patterns using CAD or digital textile pattern software.
  • Develop standardized pattern families for multiple furniture sizes and configurations.
  • Work directly with fabric cutters, seamstresses, and upholsterers to test and validate patterns.
  • Revise patterns based on sewing, upholstery, and production feedback.
  • Develop fabric consumption estimates, cutting layouts, and nesting specifications.
  • Account for fabric grain, direction, nap, repeats, and pattern matching.
  • Maintain accurate pattern documentation, revisions, and production instructions.
  • Collaborate with furniture engineering and manufacturing leadership.
  • Support future automated fabric-cutting technology.
Required Qualifications
  • Professional experience developing fabric cutting patterns for upholstered furniture or closely related products.
  • Ability to independently create cutting patterns from measurements, drawings, or physical product samples.
  • Experience using CAD or digital textile pattern-development software.
  • Understanding of upholstery construction, sewing, fabric cutting, foam, and seam allowances.
  • Ability to validate and correct patterns through actual manufacturing production.
  • Strong technical measurement, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work full-time, on-site in Dallas, Texas.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of relevant upholstery or industrial pattern-development experience.
  • Previous experience with upholstered furniture manufacturers such as American Leather, Massoud Furniture, or comparable companies.
  • Experience with Gerber Accu Mark, Lectra, Eastman patternPRO, or comparable software.
  • Experience with digital pattern libraries, fabric nesting, and material utilization.
  • Knowledge of CNC or automated fabric-cutting systems.
  • Experience developing reusable patterns for different furniture sizes and configurations.

Related experience in automotive seating, aviation seating, marine upholstery, or similar complex upholstered products may also qualify.

A college degree is not required when the candidate demonstrates relevant technical skills and manufacturing experience.

Why Join Us?

This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of an important manufacturing development initiative.

You’ll collaborate directly with our engineering, upholstery, sewing, and production teams to help establish more accurate, efficient, and repeatable fabric cutting processes.

Compensation: $24-30 per hour, depending on qualifications.
