The Dallas Children's Advocacy Center is seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Advocacy Services for the Family Support Department.

General Description

The Assistant Director of Advocacy Services will report directly to the Director of Advocacy Services and will participate in the work of the Center and the collaborating agencies on behalf of the child victims by overseeing the agency’s support services.

About DCAC

The mission of the Dallas Children's Advocacy Center is to improve the lives of abused children in Dallas County and to provide national leadership on child abuse issues. DCAC is a non‑profit organization and the only agency of its kind in Dallas County, working in agreement with public and private agencies to investigate, prosecute, and provide healing services for child abuse cases in Dallas County.

We reduce the victimization of the child, remove barriers to investigation and treatment, and enhance criminal prosecution with our distinctive multidisciplinary and united approach to these complex and severe cases, all at no cost to our clients. Each year, DCAC serves over 13,000 children and their non‑offending family members.

We are a national and international leader in the Children’s Advocacy Center movement, recognized for our expertise in the identification, investigation, and prosecution of child abuse cases; cutting‑edge clinical services and programs for the victims and their non‑offending family members; and our community and professional training programs.

Number of Staff Supervising, and positions: Family Advocates: 6‑8

Essential Duties and

Key Responsibilities Supervision and Support
  • Provides supervision, professional development and mentoring to direct report staff.
  • Ensures staff follow agency and program policy and procedures regarding client files, case notes, confidentiality, and family advocacy goals as it pertains to each client.
  • Works with the Director of Advocacy Services to prepare annual goals and objectives for staff.
  • Reviews and prepares annual performance evaluations for the Director of Advocacy Services and presents reviews with the director to the employee on an annual basis.
  • Conducts client file audits to ensure accuracy and that protocols are followed.
  • Facilitates team and program meetings, such as weekly team meetings, screening triage meetings, pod huddle ups, and group supervision.
  • Provides oversight and support to all Family Advocate special events.
Internship Program
  • Provides oversight of the Family Advocacy intern program to ensure a comprehensive learning experience.
  • Develops, implements, and updates new policies and procedures for the Family Advocate intern program.
  • Collaborates with local universities for the purpose of recruiting interns.
  • Responds and communicates program information to potential intern applicants.
  • Schedules and participates in intern interviews.
  • Assigns Family Advocate supervisors to interns.
  • Coordinates intern approval and onboarding items with human resources and the IT consultants.
  • Prepares and facilitates intern group supervision.
  • Ensures Family Advocate interns receive regular supervision, mentoring and working in a health learning environment.
  • Collaborates with Volunteer Coordinator to train and retain Family Advocates for special projects within DCAC.
Administration
  • Actively participates and attends weekly supervisions with the Director of Advocacy Services.
  • Acts as Director of Advocacy Services when director is out of the office.
  • Manages an on‑call after hours work schedule and ensures daily program coverage is sufficient.
  • Runs weekly client facing time reports and caseload reports to review productivity and client interaction.
  • Works collaboratively and maintains relationships with MDT Partners by attending MDT staffings and other MDT sponsored events.
  • Works collaboratively with other departments and actively participates in Assistant Director meetings.
Client Services
  • Maintains a small caseload of clients, as schedule and time permits.
