Overview

This is a full‑time Monday‑Friday 8:30 am‑5 pm position with no weekends, calls, or major holidays. The role is located in the Dallas Region and involves floating between multiple clinics across several departments, including Infusion, Med Onc, and Rad Onc. Texas Oncology is the largest community oncology provider in the country, with more than 600 providers across 300+ sites in Texas and southeastern Oklahoma.

Long–Term Incentive Plan (LTIP)

LTIP is an incentive program that typically vests over three years and ties awards to individual performance and the operational success of Texas Oncology. Awards are discretionary, reviewed during the annual compensation review, and governed by the written terms of the LTIP document. Benefits may be tied to continued employment through the payment date.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
    • Assesses health status by interviewing patients regarding current status and medical history.
    • Assesses patient/family needs and provides teaching and instructional material.
    • Provides psychosocial support to patients and families.
  • Prepares and administers therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician.
    • Administers all medications/blood products using correct dosage, route, time, and technique.
    • Facilitates dose modification by assessing patient and labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, problems, and symptom management.
    • Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports, and maintains central line catheter devices.
  • Facilitates clinical operations and patient care.
    • Manages patient medication refill requests from the pharmacy telephone line and records the information in the patient chart.
    • Triages patient phone calls as needed and documents relevant information in the patient chart.
    • Assists patients in locating available community resources.
    • Adheres to Nursing Float Pool playbook for specific role and job requisition.
  • Interprofessional collaboration.
    • Acts as a resource to LPN/LVNs and medical assistants.
Qualifications
  • Level I
    • Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education; BSN preferred.
    • Valid RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in a practicing state.
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
    • Must maintain continuing education requirements.
    • Entry level – 0–3 years nursing experience; one (1) year strongly preferred for Nursing Float Pool.
    • Oncology experience strongly preferred.
  • Level II
    • Minimum three (3) years of nursing experience; oncology experience strongly preferred.
  • Level Senior
    • Minimum five (5) years nursing experience, including at least one year in oncology strongly preferred.
    • Oncology certification preferred.

The work environment involves exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other common oncology/hematology clinic conditions. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Physical Requirements

Requires a full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination. Must stand and walk for extensive periods, occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to the normal range.
