Join a high‑acuity Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) as a key clinical and operational leader. As the Nurse Manager, you will provide direction and oversight for a team of critical care nurses caring for post‑operative cardiac surgery patients, those with life‑threatening cardiovascular conditions, mechanical circulatory support needs, and complex hemodynamic instability.
This role requires an experienced critical care leader who excels in fast‑paced environments, demonstrates strong clinical judgment, and fosters a collaborative, high‑performance culture focused on quality outcomes and exceptional patient‑family support.
Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership- Oversee daily operations of the CVICU, ensuring safe, evidence‑based, and high‑quality cardiovascular critical care.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate unit policies, clinical standards, and evidence‑based CVICU practices.
- Ensure the unit remains fully equipped and stocked with cardiac critical‑care equipment, including hemodynamic monitoring devices and post‑operative cardiac care supplies.
- Lead, mentor, recruit, schedule, and evaluate CVICU nursing staff; maintain appropriate staffing based on patient acuity.
- Provide ongoing education, clinical training, and professional development in areas such as hemodynamic monitoring, ECMO support, post‑cardiac surgery protocols, and advanced cardiac life support skills.
- Support a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and clinical excellence.
- Coordinate care with cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, intensivists, perfusionists, respiratory therapists, and the broader multidisciplinary team.
- Assess patient needs, manage acuity, and ensure consistent delivery of high‑quality cardiovascular critical care.
- Address escalated patient and family concerns with empathy, clarity, and professionalism.
- Manage unit budgeting, staffing, resource allocation, and operational planning.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, infection prevention protocols, and cardiac critical care best practices.
- Lead and participate in performance improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and CVICU‑specific quality projects.
- Minimum 5 years of recent, relevant ICU experience, with strong cardiovascular or CVICU clinical background
- Minimum 3+ years of Recent (Within the last year) Acute Care Leadership Experience as a CVICU Manager (Required)
- BSN required
- Current RN License in the State of Texas or Multistate Compact License
- Compact license holders must obtain a Texas RN license within 60 days of hire
- Current American Heart Association BLS Certification (Required)
- Experience in a Level I or Level II CVICU or large tertiary cardiac program
- Certification in critical care (CCRN, CSC, or other cardiac specialty credential)
- Experience with post‑operative cardiac surgery protocols, mechanical circulatory support (IABP, Impella, ECMO), and advanced hemodynamic monitoring
- Demonstrated success leading teams in high‑acuity cardiovascular environments
- Strong cardiovascular critical care expertise
- Excellent leadership, communication, and staff development abilities
- Advanced clinical decision‑making and problem‑solving
- Ability to lead effectively during crises, rapid clinical changes, and high‑stress situations
- Strong administrative, organizational, and operational management skills
- Pay: $46–$60 per hour
