Independently performs the functions of a registered nurse in direct patient care. Utilizes the nursing process to deliver developmentally appropriate care and collaborates with other health‑care professionals to provide a comprehensive plan of care that meets patient and family needs.
Responsibilities- Prescribes, delegates, and coordinates patient care using clinical judgment and evidence‑based guidelines to develop an appropriate plan of care aimed at promoting comfort.
- Ensures patient care meets standards of safety, effectiveness, patient rights and guest relations.
- Oversees care delivered by the patient‑care team and coordinates the plan of care.
- Provides education and facilitates learning for patients, families, and the care team with sensitivity to diversity.
- Collaborates with physicians, families, and other professionals to implement an appropriate plan of care that encourages each person's contributions towards best patient outcomes.
- Advocates for the patient, represents the concerns of the patient/family, and assists in resolving ethical and clinical concerns.
- Accurately and thoroughly documents all patient encounters in EPIC.
- Ensures Patient Health Information (PHI) is protected and secured at all times.
- Adheres to all infection prevention initiatives (e.g., hand hygiene, proper waste disposal).
- Delivers competent and skilled care to patients and families according to identified needs.
- Works with a team orientation, emphasizing customer relations, sound clinical judgment, and evidence‑based practice.
- Continuously monitors patient condition and implements treatment changes through collaboration with the health‑care team, including the patient and family.
- Maintains knowledge and tools to manage environmental and system resources for the patient/family within or across healthcare and non‑healthcare systems.
- BSN degree.
- 2–5 years of prior Pediatric OR RN experience.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Pediatric Preventive and Management of Aggressive Behavior (Ped Prev & Mgmt Agg Behav)
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program Instructor (NRP️ Instr)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- BLS Instructor
- NRP‑Instructor
- Pediatric Assessment, Communication and Escalation Skills (PACES)
- PALS Instructor
- Ped Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (Ped Emrgcy Assmnt Recogn Stabil)
At least one year of job‑related experience is required upon hire.
EducationFour‑year bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with a BSN required.
Licenses & Certifications- Current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas.
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements.
- Required PEARS or PACES certification within specified time frames (see addendum).
