- Minimum of 2 years of Correctional Health experience
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Disclosure of previous employment history is required
- Must have an active Texas or Compact license
- Must have active AHA or ARC BLS
Description:
The RN is a licensed professional who coordinates patient care delivery by the health care team. Using the nursing process, the RN assesses patients, identifies nursing diagnoses, develops individualized plans of care, and evaluates patient responses. The RN assists patients in transitioning through healthcare encounters without preventable complications or delays. The RN delegates interventions based on the nursing practice act, patient conditions, and employee competencies.
Provides care to assigned patient populations according to established protocols and clinical standards. Conducts continuous assessment, consulting with team members as required, and providing patient-centered care. Exhibits independent judgment in nursing care. Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills along with basic computer literacy and communication skills. Communicates effectively with patients. Demonstrates knowledge of nursing standards of care relevant to the specialty area.
Responsibilities may include performing medication passes, assessing healthcare requests, conducting withdrawal assessments, administering insulin, wound care, clinic visits, rounding, and ECGs. Experience with behavioral health patients, including de-escalation and psych experience, is a plus.
