Base Pay Range
$16.00/hr – $18.00/hr
Responsibilities- Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
- Register sales on the assigned cash register and provide customers with courteous, fair, friendly, and efficient checkout service.
- Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state and federal regulations. Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
- Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services, resolving issues and answering questions to ensure a positive experience.
- Provide courteous, friendly, fast, and efficient service to customers.
- Recommend items for sale and recommend trade-up and/or companion items.
- Collect cash, distribute change, and process voids, returns, rain checks, refunds, and exchanges as needed. Refer customers to the OTC aisle when possible.
- Keep counters and shelves clean and well merchandised, take inventory, and maintain records. Check in and price merchandise as required or directed by the store manager or shift leader.
- Perform duties assigned by the Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager, including entering patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, verifying medications, and checking for interactions. Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow.
- Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty immediately and adhere to company policies and procedures regarding pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.
- Assist pharmacists in maintaining the Wal‑green Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct and Good Faith Dispensing policy.
- Handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist’s personal attention, including calls to physicians.
- Process and resubmit manual claims for third‑party prescription services in a timely and efficient manner. Perform other clerical duties as assigned.
- Assist the pharmacy department with inventory management activities such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of pharmaceuticals. File claims for warehouse overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods involving Rx drugs.
- Ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products (e.g., alcoholic beverages and tobacco products).
- Construct and maintain displays, including promotional, seasonal, super structures, and sale merchandise. Complete resets and revisions as directed.
- Assist with separation of food items and product placement as specified by policies/procedures. Use the first‑in, first‑out method for stock rotation and restock outs.
- Maintain working knowledge of store systems and equipment.
- Provide customer service in the photo area, including digital passport photo service, poster print and creative machine, and suggestive sell of promotional photo products.
- Assume web pick‑up responsibilities (monitor orders in Picture Care Plus, pick items, and deliver orders to customers as they arrive).
- Assist with exterior and interior maintenance by ensuring a clean, neat, orderly store condition and appearance.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures and maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
- Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
- Earning and maintaining PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or required state registration.
- Attending training and completing required PPLs, acquiring continuing education credits, and maintaining knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including current developments.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English. (Except in Puerto Rico)
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekend hours.
- Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
- Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
- Prefer strong math skills for accurate prescription filling, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications.
- Prefer strong computer skills.
- Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
- Prefer PTCB certification.
