Quality Engineering Technician

Location:

Dallas, TX
Salary: $75,000 – $80,000 USD per annum

Quality Engineering Technician provides inspection of returned electro‑mechanical products for root‑cause analysis and supports quality systems at a regulated medical device facility. The role involves testing, disassembling, measuring, and documenting returned items, and collaborating with the Quality Engineer to enhance product improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read drawings, wiring diagrams, instructions, and manufacturing documentation to inspect medical device components and assemblies.
  • Interpret customer complaints (via the Returned Material Authorization system) to support root‑cause analysis.
  • Test and analyze returned products for functionality, inspect electronic circuits, and disassemble devices to locate flaws.
  • Perform inspections of in‑process materials and release assembled medical devices.
  • Complete inspection documentation and notify supervisors and engineering of product discrepancies.
  • Assist in Nonconformance Report creation and follow‑up, maintaining inspection and NCR records for trending analysis.
  • Follow cGMP and ISO requirements and support technical functions related to product refurbishment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized inspection work area and adhere to safety regulations.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of quality inspection or QE/engineering technician experience in a medical device or equivalent regulated environment.
  • Strong understanding of basic electronics (circuit components, soldering, multimeter use) and GMP processes.
  • Proficient with precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, pin gauges) and basic computer skills (MS Office).
  • Manual dexterity, hand‑eye coordination, and ability to perform visual inspection with microscope.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs and use hand tools, mounting fixtures, and assembly equipment.
  • Excellent verbal communication and teamwork skills.
