Position: Research Post Doctorate Fellow - GI Cancer (Dallas)

Research Post Doctoral Fellow performs various laboratory procedures, basic research, lab maintenance and administrative duties under the general supervision of the Scientific Director or Principal Investigator. The Post Doctoral Fellow will develop and work on a mutually agreed upon project that promotes the research goals of the organization.

The Research Post Doctoral Fellow will periodically present seminars on his/her original work-in-progress and make informative presentation on scientific articles at Journal Club. The position of Research Post Doctoral Fellow is designed to be a 3-5 years duration, with the goal of developing young Scientists into independent Investigators. The process focuses on honing skills to design and implement a research strategy and effectively present his/her data in oral and written media for the purpose of obtaining grants and scientific publications.

There are multiple positions available in Dallas, Texas.

The research will mainly focus on understanding the interplay between genetic and epigenetic alterations in colorectal, pancreatic, gastric, hepatocellular and esophageal cancers. We are a multidisciplinary research group, undertaking a number of collaborative projects involving large international consortia. The projects will involve any/all of the following research focuses.

Exploration of the role of epigenetic alterations in gastrointestinal cancers

Establishment of innovative methodologies for the development of epigenetic and non-coding RNAs-based biomarkers for the earlier diagnosis, prognosis and predictive responses to chemotherapy in gastrointestinal neoplasia

Understanding the genetic basis of early-onset and familial colorectal cancers

Molecular mechanisms of cancer chemotherapy, stem cells, chemo-resistance and chemo-sensitization

Gut microbiome and its influence on gastrointestinal cancers

The ideal candidate will possess:
MD, PhD or MD/PhD required

Prior molecular and/or cancer biology experience and evidence of project development

Strong background in biochemistry and/or molecular biology

Relevant experience in cancer genetics and epigenetics

Candidates with prior hands-on experience in sequencing-based platforms (Ion Torrent PGM sequencer, MiSeq/HiSeq, RRBS, ChIP-Seq, MeDip and RNASeq etc.) and other array-based platforms will be given preference

Evidence of first author peer-reviewed publications
