Johnson Brothers and Maverick Beverage Company have recently joined forces, expanding operations across Texas, Arizona, Colorado, and Florida. The District Manager will oversee all Retail Specialists and Sales Consultants in the Dallas region, ensuring market execution, sales performance, and strong independent account relationships.
Responsibilities- Manage the Retail Specialist/Sales Consultant team to provide successful execution and service to independent accounts.
- Spend approximately 80% of the week in the market, with only one day per week in the office.
- Create and execute new hire paperwork and onboarding programs, including training on Netsuite and internal processes.
- Provide weekly (or more frequent) on‑field sales coaching and development for Retail Specialists.
- Route market Merchandisers daily to ensure efficient deliveries and merchandising based on market needs.
- Set monthly sales goals for Retail Specialists, track progress, and help them achieve targets.
- Address account issues and complaints to find equitable resolutions and restore relationships.
- Analyze account sales data to identify trends and reassign underperforming accounts as needed.
- Enter orders, maintain accounts, and assist with retail deliveries when Retail Specialists cannot.
- Merchandise accounts and deliver orders as required.
- Conduct formal performance reviews bi‑annually (or more frequently if needed).
- Ensure full compliance with chain schematics, planners, and planograms.
- Collaborate with Operations teams to create efficient route schedules based on chain receiving times.
- Foster an open, positive team environment and address concerns professionally.
- Review sales orders and pricing to maintain correct pricing and margins.
- Execute new brand depletions and manage retail placement and sell‑through of approved items.
- Act as liaison between Chain Account Managers and the Retail Specialist team.
- Recruit new talent, create sales routes, review resumes, and conduct interviews.
- Travel within the established geographic area as required.
- Maintain reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and meet company driving record and insurance requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 5+ years of sales experience.
- 3+ years in the spirits or wine industry.
- 2+ years of managerial experience with a sales team.
- Experience in a startup environment.
- Proven track record of success.
- Steadfast work ethic, entrepreneurial spirit, and resilience.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong understanding of cost and pricing methodology.
- Ability to manage individuals to exceed goals and meet defined metrics.
- Professional demeanor—appropriate dress, speaking, and writing.
- Respond promptly to manager/partner emails, phone calls, and information requests.
- Accounts receivable collection management experience.
- Physical ability to lift and carry a 40+ pound case of wine.
- Work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
- Strong written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- Organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
- Self‑motivated, able to work independently and within a team.
- Goal‑oriented, focused, assertive, with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication skills to enhance existing customer and retailer relationships.
