The Key Account Manager obtains and develops wine sales in the assigned territory for key accounts, including acquiring new business accounts and upholding Johnson Brothers’ high standard of service.
The ideal candidate should possess great communication skills, excellent organizational skills, the ability to work independently, and the ability to build strong relationships within the territory.
- Personally calls on accounts in the assigned geographic territory to promote Victory's portfolio.
- Prospects and opens new accounts.
- Anticipates and evaluates customer needs and suggests products accordingly.
- Develops sales and product knowledge to educate and taste accounts on products.
- Regularly meets and exceeds sales goals and quotas.
- Protects the interests of Johnson Brothers, our supplier partners, and our valued customers through strong business acumen.
- Manages time to meet order deadlines and delivery dates/cutoffs.
- Communicates with buyers to resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Demonstrates leadership and entrepreneurial qualities.
- Attends and participates in regular team sales meetings.
- Speaks publicly about products, events, or at Johnson Brothers staff trainings and other promotional events.
- Maintains a clean driving record and a current, valid state driver's license.
- Has wine knowledge, distribution, and sales experience (highly preferred).
- Ensures accounts are current on payments and helps collect payments when necessary.
- Organizes supplier market work and communicates professionally with suppliers before, during, and after all market work.
- Treats all employees, management, vendors, and customers with respect at all times.
- Responds to buyer requests and inquiries with urgency and timeliness.
- May include working nights and weekends on promotions and other account activities.
Skills & Qualifications
- High School Diploma (Bachelor’s Degree preferred).
- Strong persuasive presentation skills, ability to speak before large audiences both internally and externally.
- Strong computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Background or experience in the beverage or restaurant/bar industry is a plus.
- Knowledge of alcoholic beverage industry, wine and spirits terms, and production process techniques helpful.
- Passion for wine and spirits with continuous learning of new brands.
- Physical exertion required: lift 25‑50 lbs regularly.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and required auto insurance coverage.
- Minimum age 21 to sell alcohol in Texas.
- Must be able to travel within established geographic areas as necessary.
- Must have reliable transportation and meet company driving record & insurance requirements.
- Must complete and pass a criminal background check.
