This position is responsible for performing moderate to complex reviews of research activities for compliance with federal export control laws and research security requirements. This position works under minimal supervision and in collaboration with campus partners to assess risk, provide guidance, and support researchers in maintaining compliant international and security-sensitive research programs.

- Experience
2 years - 5 years of experience in research compliance, export control, or national security.
Knowledge of U.S. export control regulations (e.g., EAR, ITAR, OFAC)
- Education
Master's Degree - Licenses and Certifications
Export Control Certification in EAR/ITAR preferred. Upon Hire
- Independently conducts export control and research security reviews of research proposals, agreements, and international activities.
- Evaluates and manages Technology Control Plans (TCPs) and associated compliance documentation.
- Monitors and reviews foreign engagements, travel, and shipment requests for security risk.
- Performs restricted party screening and interpret potential matches.
- Consults with researchers to ensure compliance and recommend risk mitigation strategies.
- Provides training to faculty, staff, and students on export control and research security.
- Collaborates with other compliance offices, Sponsored Program, Conflict of Interest, Information Resources, Information Security, legal, and department administrators.
- Assists in audits, reporting, and regulatory tracking.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code 51.215, which authorizes UT Southwestern to obtain criminal history record information. To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.
