Position SummaryAt Republic Services, Technicians play a critical role in maintaining the performance and quality of our fleet. A Technician performs routine and preventive maintenance on diesel and non‑diesel equipment and trucks.
The Technician Apprenticeship program will train an entry‑level technician over a two‑year period in the following:
- Electrical diagnosis of starting & charging systems.
- Air conditioning & heating component identification & inspection.
- Wheel end assembly component identification & inspection.
- Air brakes component identification & inspection.
- Hydraulics component identification and inspection.
- Truck preventive maintenance.

Technician Apprenticeship ProgramThe Republic Services Technician Apprenticeship program offers opportunities across the United States. This outstanding career opportunity was created for aspiring Technicians to earn while they learn. The program spans two years, beginning with nine weeks of company‑paid training at our new state‑of‑the‑art Technical Institute in Dallas, Texas, followed by twenty‑two months of on‑the‑job training (OJT) that includes mentorship, virtual instructor‑led technical content, and a pathway to Apprentice certification as a Republic Services entry‑level Diesel Mechanic.
ApprenticeTraining Experience
During the 22‑month OJT, apprentices receive mentorship and in‑shop training on new technologies and equipment, with a focus on leadership, life skills, and wellness. Accelerated apprentices who meet required milestones may advance to a Level C Technician ahead of schedule. Upon placement in a business unit, apprentices receive direct supervision from a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor or Manager and gain hands‑on experience through the Republic Preventative Maintenance Program and other on‑the‑job work.

- Ability to work a flexible schedule to include some nights, weekends, or holidays.

- Must be willing to travel to and live in Dallas, Texas for the 9‑week in‑person training.
- Upon successful completion, the candidate must be willing to relocate to the assigned location throughout the United States.
