General Laborer
Position SummaryThe General Laborer position offers a valuable entry‑level opportunity to build a rewarding career in the critical field of clearing and maintaining our nation's power grid. As a General Laborer, you will assist in the removal, clearing, and maintenance of civil, matting, and forestry clearance efforts.
Essential Functions- Secure the safety of yourself and others by using proper tools, safety equipment, and PPE.
- Assist in visual observation and safety checks in vegetation management and clearing.
- Assist fellow workers in meeting project objectives.
- Join storm restoration efforts when needed.
- Operate vehicles and equipment safely and professionally.
- Participate in ongoing training to improve technical and leadership skills.
- No experience necessary.
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Commercial Driver’s License strongly preferred.
- Ability to travel long distances on short notice.
- Gate work experience.
- Ability to work extended periods in various locations.
- Ability to lift over 50 lbs.
- Willingness to work overtime when requested.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Inspect personal protective equipment (PPE) properly.
- Understand when to wear PPE.
- Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order.
- Perform rigorous physical labor.
- Use company radio appropriately.
- Maintain hand tools properly.
- Follow directions and work at heights/ confined spaces when required.
- Work outside in inclement weather.
- Perform related work as required.
- Read/write and communicate effectively.
- Follow safety rules and company policy.
Typical physical demands include standing, walking, handling, reaching, lifting up to 50 lbs, speaking, hearing, and performing rigorous physical labor for extended periods. Specific vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
Work EnvironmentWork may involve exposure to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibration, extreme conditions, and loud noise. Work is performed outdoors with diverse weather conditions.
