A Drop Bury Technician is self‑motivated and carries high standards on quality of work. Technician works in support of our customers to bury and/or bore underground coax or fiber drop cables to a single family, multi‑family and/or commercial customers. This is accomplished using company‑issued specialized trenching and boring machinery for situations involving sidewalks, driveways, and streets, along with hand placement using hand tools where necessary.
Position Duties
- Bury drop to meet system specifications.
- Able to identify located utilities to avoid damages.
- Able to locate unmarked utilities and customers equipment such as dog fences, irrigation systems, etc.
- Able to restore jobsite to original conditions.
- Able to stick bore and have proper knowledge.
- Interpret work drawings and instructions and complete necessary paperwork.
- Review all requested and existing services with the customer before installation of new drop.
- Operate machinery including trenching and boring equipment for burying cable.
- Operate hand‑held unit for retrieving and clearing job tasks.
- Work to complete necessary tasks as assigned.
- Responsible for damages.
While performing duties, the employee will work primarily in the field. The employee will be required to work outdoors in all types of weather and may be exposed to dust, fluctuating temperatures, and periodic high noise levels.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk, and hear. Able to lift 75 lbs and handle ladder in a safe manner.
Education or Skills- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have at least one (1) year of full‑time experience as a drop bury technician.
- Operate machinery including trenching and boring equipment for burying cable.
- The ability to walk 1/2 mile + while operating following a drop plow that places service cable.
- Ability to work the schedule including overtime as needed.
- Strong verbal and written communication ability.
- Ability to work independently or as a team player.
- Valid driver’s license needed.
- Requires completion of background and MVR checks.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% (Preferred)
