The Senior Citizens Activities Coordinator supports Deaf
* seniors through daily activities, wellness programs, and access to community resources. This role focuses on hands‑on engagement, planning creative programs, and fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for seniors. The coordinator will help with case management, benefits applications, transportation, pantry services, hot meals, and social activities that keep seniors active and connected.

Employment:

Full‑time, 100% on‑site (Nonexempt)

Responsibilities
  • Provide one‑on‑one support for Deaf
    * seniors, including referrals and help with SNAP, Social Security, Medicare, and housing assistance.
  • Advocate for seniors in accessing health, dental, and transportation services.
  • Maintain case notes and records in Salesforce or similar systems.
  • Plan and lead activities such as exercise, cooking, crafts, games, and educational workshops.
  • Coordinate field trips, shopping days, and community events.
  • Drive the DAC van for trips and scheduled outings.
  • Coordinate with DART and Paratransit for seniors needing extra transportation support.
  • Manage the VNA hot meal program and assist with OASP meal intakes.
  • Oversee pantry operations including restocking, sorting, and food distribution.
  • Provide Deaf‑centric Nutrition Education Course presentations using OASP materials.
  • Manage snack shop operations including sales, deposits, and cash logs.
  • Organize Deaf Seniors Resource Day, cultural events, and technology demo sessions.
  • Support grant and county reporting with the Operations Coordinator.
Other Duties
  • Help prepare newsletters and outreach materials.
  • Assist with flyers and social media requests.
  • Support volunteer training and safe food handling.
  • Complete basic van inspections, mileage logs, and safety checks.
  • Participate in cross‑training with the Operations Coordinator.
  • Support DAC events and community partnerships.
  • Attend staff meetings and professional development sessions.
Required Education and Skills
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Fluent in ASL and able to adapt to different signing levels.
  • Knowledge of Deaf culture and senior services.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to plan and lead group activities.
  • Ability to adapt bi‑culturally between Deaf/ASL and Hearing cultures fluently.
  • Efficient communication and interpersonal skills.
Desired Education and Skills
  • Associate’s degree or coursework in Human Services, Social Services, Community Health, Gerontology, or a related area.
  • Certificate or training in Senior Services, Activity Coordination, Nutrition and Food Service, or Community Support.
  • Background in event planning or leading workshops for seniors.
  • Familiarity with food program administration and safe food handling such as Serv Safe.
  • Experience supporting outreach events and working with community partners.
