Job Summary

The role of a Youth Employment Specialist is to help young adults with disabilities find competitive employment and build their strengths in different areas related to the workforce. The position requires recruiting participants, matching them to jobs that align with their strengths and interests, and maintaining detailed records of all job‑related activities. Success in this role depends on building solid relationships with state agencies, schools, parents, students, and employers.

Core

Work Activities
  • Meet assigned Bridges outcome goals.
  • Foster and maintain youth relationships to promote commitment to our services; provide individualized training and guidance that helps youth advance toward their career goals.
  • Identify and address employment barriers; provide follow‑up support to facilitate skill growth.
  • Accurately record program activities in participant files.
  • Represent the Bridges brand and maintain communication with school districts, counselors, employers, parents/guardians, state agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Attend stakeholder meetings regularly.
  • Arrange transportation for participants when necessary.
  • Perform general administrative duties as required.
  • Complete any additional tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Outcome Goals
  • Enroll sufficient youth to achieve placement and retention outcomes (16 placements, 12 90‑day retentions, 10 180‑day retentions).
  • Recruit and enroll an appropriate caseload, assess skills and interests, and create practical strategies to overcome challenges.
  • Develop an active employer pool and match jobs that benefit both the youth and employers.
  • Re‑place youth as needed, provide coaching, transportation assistance, and support on job accommodations.
  • Facilitate regular formal appraisals of on‑the‑job performance and assist with off‑job supports (training, assistive equipment).
Education and Experience
  • Four‑year college degree or equivalently relevant work experience.
  • Formal training and/or experience in school‑to‑work transition, case management, job development or employment support, and sales, marketing, and networking.
Required Skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to interact with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships, adapt to frequent changes, and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, database management, and internet platforms.
  • Knowledge of technology for providing assistance to youth with disabilities.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ability to safely transport participants; pass MVR and insurance requirements if using own vehicle.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
  • Physical ability to drive and navigate schools, businesses, and local community.
  • Must be fully vaccinated per CDC/local mandate where applicable.
  • Valid driver’s license (where required).
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Navigate inside schools, business locations, and the local community.
  • Operate a vehicle or use public transportation to commute to various locations.
  • Operate general office equipment.
