Backend Engineer

Backend Engineer in the AI team to help transform education with advanced AI. You will build bridges between Unity-powered 3D experiences and generative AI to create scalable, engaging educational tools for learners from elementary school to career, with customers expecting growth to 100ks of learners soon.

• Develop and scale robust systems and databases powering scalable, engaging educational tools
• Stand up centralized databases for AI and research use
• Collaborate with backend engineers to ensure AI innovations integrate into educational products

• Deep expertise in database design and management (e.g., Postgre
  
  SQL vs Mongo
  
  DB)
• 3+ years backend development experience with strong Python and database technologies
• Familiarity with RESTful API design and implementation, Postman
• Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset; comfortable with short-term tasks and long-term projects
• Passion for building systems to revolutionize education: engaging, effective, available to all
• Strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, and software design principles (CS or related undergrad, or equivalent experience)

• Python-focused backend with existing systems (e.g., Mongo
  
  DB in Google Cloud) and interfaces
• Integration with external APIs and interfaces (including LTI launches in EdTech)
• Data ingestion using Web Driver for simple screen scrapes (with permission) and efficient parsing/storage of media
• Define databases/backend for AI team use; lead core data infrastructure for model training and data science needs
• Emphasis on practical solutions, iteration, and using the right tool for the job
• Focus on data curation from diverse sources to support proprietary datasets
