DESCRIPTION
The YMCA is currently taking application for energetic, confident, and friendly staff to work in the sports department as Sports Officials. The Sports Official is responsible for upholding the Sports Official Code of Conduct and enforcing the rules of play. He/She is the sole representative at many YMCA games, and is to take & maintain control of the games at all times.
The candidate is responsible for calling the game fairly and will make calls on a deemed needed basis. These decisions should be made quickly and with the best of his/her ability. The officiating skill level will be determined by the YMCA sports staff, but a general working knowledge of the sport to be officiated is required of all officials. Sports offered include soccer, basketball, flag football, volleyball and tball/baseball.
& HOURS
Saturdays and some weeknights. The schedule varies depending on the number of leagues and teams.
REQUIREMENTSIncumbent should be able to communicate with players, coaches and parents effectively. Candidate should be able to lift 50 pounds. Ideal candidate must be energetic, enthusiastic and have the motivation to share that energy with all sports participants. Candidate should have strong human relation skills. Incumbent must possess a strong understanding of the YMCA and its mission as well as have a strong desire to deliver a quality program to children and families in the community.
Must attend required trainings including First Aid/CPR, Child Abuse Awareness, and other trainings as outlined by the YMCA. Must be 14 years or older.
Prior experience playing, coaching, or officiating is a plus.
